Making a Booking
Registration
Before you are able to make an Emergency Homecare booking, you will need to register the details of any elderly relatives or adult dependents (over 18) who you think may benefit from the service in the future. Registration costs £25 and you only need to register once at the start of the service.
We strongly recommend pre-registration so that in advance of you actually making a booking, we know and can do the following:
- Fully understand your needs and those of your dependent
- Allocate, in advance, the most appropriate care agency in your area to provide care in case of an emergency
- Organise the best time for a Home Assessment, whether immediately, or at the time of booking
After registration, we will call you to discuss all the options available in your dependent's local area, the options for the Home Assessment, and how quickly we can react should you need to make an Emergency booking. This will often depend on the area in which your dependent lives and availability of care agencies.

The Home Assessment
A Home Assessment is critical in determining your elder (or other adult) dependent's individual needs, to provide the best possible care. The Home Assessment costs £50 (ex VAT) per elder/adult dependent. You will be asked to enter your credit card details, however no money will be taken off your card until after the Home Assessment is completed.
The service will be tailored to meet the specific needs or requirements of your dependent, as identified through the assessment. An agency representative will meet with your dependent at their home to discuss how the care will be undertaken and to understand their personal preferences regarding the care to be provided. It is preferred that you or another family member be present. You will be provided with the name of the individual in advance, and they will be able to show ID.
A plan of care will be developed, explaining the services agreed to and summarising any specific preferences in relation to the care provided. The plan of care helps the service user and care professionals to work in a consistent and safe manner.
The timing of the Home Assessment will depend on your individual needs and those of your dependent. If you want care to commence immediately, we will co-ordinate a mutually convenient time for a Home Assessment. However, if you have registered as a precautionary measure, we will ensure that the allocated Homecare Agency is fully briefed on your dependent care needs so that a Home Assessment can quickly be put in place if and when needed.

Making an Emergency Homecare Booking:
- Please call the Emergency Homecare Team.
We understand that booking the right carer is important to you, so please do call us for reassurance and to make a booking if you prefer
- If you want to book online, enter the day(s) you need a homecarer for and the hours required.
If there is more than one elder or adult dependent registered you will need to select which person the care is for. The minimum booking time of care per day is decided on a case by case basis, depending on the location of your dependent
- The amount owed is then calculated.
The cost of a Homecarer is £19 per hour or £21 from 8pm - 8am (and weekend). If you are happy with the amount, you will then need to give your credit card details. (Please note that no money is taken off your card until after the booking has taken place)
- The previously allocated care agency is alerted to your booking.
As a result of the home assessment the agency will be aware of the care requirements and therefore source a carer with the most relevant experience
- When an appropriate carer has been sourced, we will telephone to discuss the carer.
Due to the often sensitive nature of Emergency Homecare bookings, the carers will all be of an exceptionally high standard, however if for any reason you deem them unsuitable you are able to decline them and an alternative will be sourced. You will be provided with the name of the carer in advance of the booking commencing. They will show ID on arrival
- Once the booking has been completed, only then will your credit card be debited.
This allows flexibility of hours (i.e. you may require the carer for more or less hours than previously expected) and also ensures that you are happy with the service we provided before you pay any money.
