What is Emergency Homecare?
Emergency Homecare offers domiciliary homecare services for both elderly and adult dependents over 18, and is facilitated by Homecare Agencies who are registered by the Commission for Social Care Inspection. Agencies include the well established and trusted brand Medico.
Emergency Homecare will provide a qualified and sensitive carer when your normal arrangements have let you down, or when emergency care needs to be put in place. Carers are available all over the UK.

What is a Home Assessment?
A Home Assessment will need to take place before a booking can commence, to ensure the correct level of care is provided. This can either be arranged straight after registration or at a later date if you do not require the care immediately.
Please keep us informed. You may only intend to use the service should your dependent's needs change considerably. Please be aware that should your dependent's condition change, further Home Assessment's may need to take place to ensure the best level of care is provided.
Once the home assessment is completed, you can make a booking either online or by telephone.

Why should I register in advance?
In advance of you actually making a care booking, we need to know and do the following:
- Fully understand your needs and those of your dependent
- Allocate, in advance, the most appropriate care agency in your area to provide care in case of an emergency
- Organise the best time for a Home Assessment, whether immediately, or at the time of booking.
Once you have registered, we will call to discuss all the options available in your dependent's local area, the options for the Home Assessment, and how quickly we can react should you need to make an Emergency booking.
This will often depend on the area in which your dependent lives and availability of care agencies. You will then be able to book with confidence, knowing that we fully understand your needs should you need emergency cover.

How does the service work?
The Emergency Homecare service can be used whether or not you currently have a care arrangement in place. If you wish to register in case your existing care arrangements break down, you would require a home assessment. The service can also be used as a precautionary measure - you can register and arrange a home assessment at a later date prior to needing care for an elderly relative or any adult dependent.
We strongly recommend pre-registration so that a My Family Care representative can phone you to ascertain your exact requirements and pre-allocate the most appropriate care agency in the required area.
Depending on when the care is needed for, the My Family Care representative will either:
- Ensure that the Homecare Agency is fully briefed on you dependent care needs so that a Home Assessment can quickly be put in place if and when needed
- Co-ordinate a mutually convenient time for a Home Assessment.
When care is required, provided the Home Assessment has been completed, you can either book via the web site or over the phone. The minimum booking time is 4 hours.

How can I be assured of the quality of the care provided?
All agencies we use are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (and equivalent bodies in Scotland and Wales) with a rating of "good" or "excellent". On request, we can send you a copy of the agency 'Inspection Report'.
All care workers will be CRB checked and addition may hold a POVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults check).
All agency care workers are fully interviewed and have at least two written references. They must also have attended a 3-day training and induction course before they are permitted to provide care. All care workers will also either hold, or be working towards the relevant NVQ (either level 2 or 3).
When you make an Emergency Homecare booking (for an elder relative or adult dependent), the most appropriate care agency in your area will arrange for a qualified person to come to your dependent's home.

How much will the service cost?
There is a £25 registration fee* (+£50 ex VAT for the Home Assessment) and you only need to register once at the start of the service. The cost of a Homecarer is £19 per hour or £21 from 8pm – 8am or for weekend bookings.
* N.B. We work with many companies that help their employees with their care costs. If your employer does not offer our Emergency Homecare service currently, please feel free to pass on our details to HR.

Is my payment secure?
Your payment is absolutely secure. We do not save card details anywhere so you will need to re-enter them each time you make a booking. Please visit www.protx.com for more details.
